Although Microsoft Word was originally created as a word processing program, many people began using it as a design tool for flyers, advertisements, announcements, posters and more. And while Word doesn't have the same features and capabilities as Microsoft's desktop design Publisher program, you can still create a very attractive flyer or document, if you know a few tricks.
Microsoft Word 2010 includes a few new bells and whistles over the older 2007 and 2003 versions, and I have added the new how-to's to my Squidoo lens on designing attractive flyers with Word.
For example...
Here's how to use flyer templates to make your design work easier:
WORD 2010:
Click on the File Tab
Click on New
Click on Flyers (you'll have a huge array of options in addition to flyers, including gift certificates, greeting cards, resumes, etc.)
Search through the 9 files for a design you like and double-click to download it.
Replace the text with your own and SAVE AS a new title in a file folder in the documents section of your computer (or desktop).
In Word 2010, you can also add a theme to your flyer.
Click on the Page Layout tab
Click on Themes
You can automatically change font types and colors for your entire document. Experiment with Themes to see which ones you like.
