The Dimming of the Day

 

Since Friday, you have been searching for the best rendition of this Richard Thompson song for your Pinterest page. This week, the political news from Europe created a shift in power. The local economic situation is continuing to stall. And the visionaries are beating the drum of collapse on many fronts. Do you think it is a coincidence that "Dimming of the Day" is haunting your consciousness just now?

It is a beautiful anthem to play for the exiting of old energy. A modern day "Taps" for the status quo.

It does not take a strong wind to knock down a house of cards. But what will you build in its place? You have seen in your mind's eye how life could be when people care for each other and the planet. And you know that, whatever you envision, you can create in tangible form. And this is the task before you now.

Is this not a wonderful time to be alive?  

 

Whose Rules?

 

When you were a child, you were often admonished to "play by the rules" and "be a good girl." But whose idea of "good girl" were you trying to live up to? And what happened if you didn't believe in a particular set of rules?

Some rules are useful, particularly those that apply to traffic safety on crowded streets. The rules of spelling are helpful for the universal understanding of words.

But what about the unspoken or informal rules that never made sense to you: the dress code for girls in the 1950s, for example, or the one that keeps women's salaries many percentage points below the incomes of their male counterparts?

What do you do about those rules you are in complete and utter disagreement with? Do you go along, protest or leave the playing field altogether?

When unconscionable rules are made into laws, it presents a dilemma for thinking people. Many times in history those who control have obliterated entire generations of those who think. And it is not the distant past we are talking about.

As the dominoes of the status quo begin to fall, it would be a good idea to get out of their path. You can do this by simply aligning with your inner divinity. When you relax and become one with your Higher Self energy, there is only one rule that matters... the law of Love.

Your divine connection and inner knowing will guide you through the minefields of chaos. Love will be the shield that keeps you safe. The rules of respect, kindness and generosity will have their day again.

Trust in the law of Love. It will prevail in the end... regardless of how things look in the meantime.

And that includes loving the dictators, too. "All the world's a stage... and all the men and women merely players." Love them all: it's the only way.

 

Following the 80-20 Rule

 

The Pareto Principle simply states that 80% of your results are derived from 20% of your efforts. This could also be called "going with the flow." When you function the other way around, with 80% of your work time only creating 20% of your needed income, it is called "spinning your wheels."

For example, you regard your blog writing as a labor of love more than as a business enterprise. Given the amount of time it takes to write and publish, do you think it belongs on the 80 side or the 20 side? You might ask the same question of your passive income components, your Squidoo lenses, and social networking time. Chart your days on a time graph. Compare the outgo of energy versus the income of satisfaction and cash.

You might be surprised at what you see.

The next step is to eliminate or pare down the time spent on activities that create neither joy nor cash flow for you. What can you do with this liberated part of your schedule that will make it more effective? Are there some areas where a little more effort would create a ton more results income-wise? Once again, remove what no longer works and focus only on activities that make you feel good and that have potential for boosting your business. Be honest with yourself. You do not want to end up with someone else's "shoulds" on your business plan.

Spring is the time for new beginnings. In your mind and heart, you are a writer. Let that be the center point of your planning. How many segments on your chart currently revolve around the act of writing and the promotion of your writings? How could you increase this?

Let us count the ways.

What Life Wants For Our Kids

 

I wrote these words on a hand-made card for my son's high school graduation in the spring of 2000. Recently my son gave me permission to add this text to a graduation card for my Zazzle page. I think this is what Life wants for our kids and it seemed appropriate to post it on Easter - a day symbolic of transformation and new beginnings.

Self-Discipline versus Going with the Flow

 

Getting up earlier to enjoy a few extra minutes of writing in the morning requires self-discipline, especially if you are by nature a night person. If your body naturally wants one thing and you are attempting to squeeze it into a different box, what happens to "going with the flow" and "staying in the now moment?"

When you were a child, many things did not come naturally to you. You had to be taught how to read, how to use a knife and fork and, later, how to drive a car. To function in your society, you needed to know these things.

To function as a writer with a day job, you have chosen to train yourself to wake up early. You stay "in the now" when you respond to the radio clicking on. You avoid it by pressing the snooze button. Your old version of "going with the flow" was to grab those extra snatches of sleep. The "new" you wants to be a get-up-and-go person first thing in the morning. That's your new flow.

So far the past tendencies are winning. But we have another three weeks to go in our early rising experiment. The good news is... the high vibrational meditations before bedtime are most definitely helping you sleep through the night.

Now if we could just keep your finger off the snooze button in the morning...

Rain On the Roof

 

As the thunderstorm moved through last night, you found yourself with rain not only on the roof, but also on the ceiling, on the bed and on the floor. At midnight you were rearranging furniture and searching for all the towels you could find. And wondering how you would manage your early rising experiment with a diminished amount of sleep.

You adapt and do what you can.

Rigid self-discipline must be tempered with the needs of the moment. This morning an extra few minutes of rest was more beneficial than pushing yourself out of bed just to stay on schedule.

Fortunately, your reasons for adopting an earlier wakeup time are important enough to you that you will carry on with your 30-day test. The results of the first three days, however, have been so-so. And you are nodding off between paragraphs even now.

This is not, perhaps, the best day to be giving up coffee as part of your early rising regimen.

Up early. No coffee. Quite an improvement.

Last night you listened to the Vortex Meditation to raise vibration. Before bed tonight, try a healing meditation to settle down your allergies. This will help you sleep more restfully.

During the day, draw your attention to the beauty around you. Notice the jacarandas in their purple splendor, the majestic clouds rolling across the sky, the pretty red cardinals lunching on your birdfeeder. Feel the joy of Life well up within you as you realize that you are one with all of this.

Raising your vibration like this during the day will help keep your energy up while you are adapting to the new sleep schedule. Noticing and appreciating beauty only takes a moment, but the lift you get will carry you through much of the day... especially when napping is not an option.

Open the blinds and let the sun in now. You have a brand new day in which to figure out how you will enhance the world. Don't forget your camera.

Early Riser Experiment: Day One

 

As suggested, you set your alarm for fifteen minutes earlier and listened to a meditation CD to raise your vibration before sleeping. In the morning, however, you punched the snooze button three times before finally getting out of bed and felt the need for coffee to wake up enough to write. This experiment may take a while.

You have read that it can take up to 30 days to create new neural pathways for such behavior changes. It appears that we may need the entire month to make early rising easier for you.

You enjoy the quiet time once you are up. Getting you there is another matter.

Persist... or resist? Your choice.

Conflicting Reports

 

There are so many predictions and prophecies about the year 2012 that you wonder who is taking all that trouble to make them up.

One says that the changes will be subtle, another that the earth will shift on its axis, a third that there will be a mini ice age, a fourth says everything has been delayed. And on and on.

Even your most trusted resources don't seem to be telling the same story. And in the meantime, you are wondering if you should invest in thermal underwear for an extended cold spell.

Do not let yourself get in a tizzy about the troubles ahead. Things will happen, certainly… but not everything. When things get out of balance, corrections must be made, whether it's concerning your personal health, the world economy or the pollution of the earth's waters.

Your Higher Self certainly knows what is around the corner in your life. In order to quiet your anxiety about the future, make an effort to raise your vibration sufficiently to blend your physical energy with your eternal energy. From this sublime state, you can discern truth more easily. Ask for your own visions about 2012… and beyond.

Each person has the capability to do this. Each individual will have a personal version of "future shock," depending upon what the soul needs and has been asking for in order to grow.

Make no mistake… a time of great change is at hand, but much of the change will be internal. Somehow, humans pull themselves together more easily in the face of physical disaster than they do when huge shifts in understanding are needed.

If you take care of your inner changes, whatever else happens will be manageable. Abraham-Hicks would say, "Get into your vortex" and align with your eternal self. This is the best way to discern the truth about what is going on and the best way to stay centered in confusing times.

And the surest way to see your next moves clearly from the perspective of an eternal viewing platform.

Fun times ahead.

The Winds of Change

 

The winds of change blow swiftly now. Line up your ducks quickly and prepare yourself for exciting times.

Some events may seem out of your control, but this is not, in fact, true. Fear creeps in when you are unprepared. If you have been alert, you have some idea about what is coming in your nation and in the world. And we do not mean unidentified flying objects.

The major upheaval will be economic, which has a trickle-down effect into the supply chains for food, fuel, and other necessities. This spring, plant a garden. Supply your own electricity. Become like the pioneers of old, but with internet service.

Your ingenuity will be tested in areas you have little experience with. You will learn.

As long as you do not sink into a fear whirlpool, you will find much to enjoy about the coming changes. Get ready… things are starting to shift.
