What Life Wants

Whose Rules?

 

When you were a child, you were often admonished to "play by the rules" and "be a good girl." But whose idea of "good girl" were you trying to live up to? And what happened if you didn't believe in a particular set of rules?

Some rules are useful, particularly those that apply to traffic safety on crowded streets. The rules of spelling are helpful for the universal understanding of words.

But what about the unspoken or informal rules that never made sense to you: the dress code for girls in the 1950s, for example, or the one that keeps women's salaries many percentage points below the incomes of their male counterparts?

What do you do about those rules you are in complete and utter disagreement with? Do you go along, protest or leave the playing field altogether?

When unconscionable rules are made into laws, it presents a dilemma for thinking people. Many times in history those who control have obliterated entire generations of those who think. And it is not the distant past we are talking about.

As the dominoes of the status quo begin to fall, it would be a good idea to get out of their path. You can do this by simply aligning with your inner divinity. When you relax and become one with your Higher Self energy, there is only one rule that matters... the law of Love.

Your divine connection and inner knowing will guide you through the minefields of chaos. Love will be the shield that keeps you safe. The rules of respect, kindness and generosity will have their day again.

Trust in the law of Love. It will prevail in the end... regardless of how things look in the meantime.

And that includes loving the dictators, too. "All the world's a stage... and all the men and women merely players." Love them all: it's the only way.

 

A Room with a View

 

For the past week, heavy machinery has been pulling out and demolishing the remaining trees in the empty property behind your house. It was painful to see the trees and bushes piled up like so much rubbish, waiting to be hauled away. Even more painful for the trees.

What gets in the way gets bulldozed away.

The good news? For a short time you will be able to see a little lake from the window of your writing room. Enjoy the view while you can. It will be blocked soon enough by the buildings that will sit where the trees used to be.

Your "cabin in the woods" vision is no idle dream. You need the energy of forests around you. Soon.

 

"A Watched Pot Never Boils"

 

You have heard this saying many times, especially when you became impatient waiting for the results of a project you had worked on. Today, you are offering one of your Kindle books for free, hoping for a boost in the Amazon rankings. How many times today will you anxiously peek into this particular "pot?"

Relax. You have done what you can to prepare for the event. Worrying over statistics every half hour is not going to increase your download numbers.

Tweet, pin and post as needed over the coming two days of your freebie promotion, but not excessively. Keep track of what is going on, certainly, but not obsessively.

As a writer, your main work is... writing.

Instead of winding yourself up in a whirlpool of what-ifs, write about your experiences as a new Kindle author. Figure out better ways to manage future events for your other e-books. Learn as you go and teach what you learn. This is a new enough field with room for much more input.

Tutorial Lady is not ready to retire just yet. Other writers are waiting for this information. Write... peek. Write... peek. Write.......

 

Who Pats You On the Back?

 

When you quietly work away at a writing project and suddenly turn a corner that makes all the difference in how the finished product will turn out, who do you tell? When you make a leap in understanding that lifts your idea to a level you hadn't even dreamed about in the planning stages, who notices?

Writing is such a solitary occupation that nobody but you ever gets to see the hurdles you jump or the breakthroughs you win - the blood, sweat, tears and joy of the writing process. Would you have it any other way?

People who write for a living spend the majority of their time out of the public eye. They emerge from their hidey holes for brief periods to publish and market their works and then... return to solitary confinement where, to be honest, they feel most at home.

How do writers keep going... so silently, so privately... without bosses or colleagues to spur them on every day? Most people need and want frequent feedback so they know they are doing well in their jobs. As a writer, you would see that as an intrusion, unless you had a particular point you wished clarification on.

Writers tend to be self-sufficient, requiring neither cheerleaders nor committees for their work, until the manuscript is ready for polishing and publishing. For the act of creation itself, all they really need is an idea and a laptop and a quiet place to think.

Have fingers, will travel... anywhere the imagination can reach. What a life!

 

If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It

 

When you edit your work for use in other publications, be very careful that you do not excise the energetic essence at the same time that you remove a few words. Inspirational writing, such as you create, has an energy flow inherent in it and, when you revise the wording, you run the risk of losing its meaning and "ah-ha" quality.

Your current writing project involves compiling your blog posts into a series of e-books on living day-to-day from the perspective of eternity. When you rewrite to make the chapters more universal in nature, you do not want to lose the original tone or the point of each day's lesson.

Our morning blogging sessions are meant to be wake-up calls to help you sort out your life and to remind you to follow the direction of your highest calling. You are not the only one searching for such guidance and you do not want to soften the impact of what Life wants for your readers, as tough as you think it might sound to some people.

If the shoe fits. Just sayin'.

 

Believing In Yourself

 

Often when you think about your relationship with your Higher Self, you mentally place yourself in an inferior position. This is not the way it is. You are an equal partner with the eternal side of you. The truth is, you just happen to be in a different location playing a slightly different game.

Your eternal nature never forgets its divine origins. On the earth plane you have so many influences, both positive and horrid, that it is easy to forget where you came from and who you truly are. When you remember to "dissolve" into the energy of your Higher Self, the "real you" shines through.

While you are running around being busy on Earth, it is easy to get caught up in the drama of the day. It is easier still to ignore your Higher Self and your reason for separating from this eternal side of you. Why would a being choose to leave the comforts of her eternal home to enter a hostile environment which rewards the few and disempowers the many? Which kills and imprisons more readily than it heals and liberates? Which depletes life-sustaining resources faster than it can replace them?

Why? Because you thought you could make a difference.

Slowly but surely, a shift in consciousness is taking place on your little planet in the sky. Slowly but surely, you are claiming the power that you have always possessed. Slowly but surely, you are merging with your eternal nature, even while remaining in your physical body.

Are there ways to speed things up? Certainly. Immerse yourself in high-vibrational activities as much as possible. This allows you to slide more easily into oneness with your eternal nature and, from this vantage point, view your life from the perspective of eternity.

From there, with clarity and confidence, you can now set your feet a little more firmly upon your chosen path. Emboldened with the strength of your eternal energy, you can speak truth more freely without fear. You have no limits but your own beliefs... and you are quickly shedding the little ones.

You have the power. You have the words. What are you waiting for?

 

Writers Write

 

Now that you have given yourself permission to call yourself a "writer," what will you write? Will you continue to balance left-brain and right-brain creativity... or will you ultimately opt for, what - poetry? Do you understand the difference between the romance of writing and the business of writing? The first feeds your soul, while the latter feeds your family.

Many people treat writing as a hobby because they are either happy in their day jobs or they cannot figure out a way to make their writing pay. The e-book revolution has leveled the playing field somewhat, now that anyone can self-publish a book quite easily, but selling enough books to earn a living is quite another matter.

It can be done, but there is a learning curve to the business model that most writers do not have the patience or propensity to learn. They would rather be writing than marketing. You are no different on this score, but you know that to survive economically as a "writer," you must learn the ropes of selling your goods.

Many writers are in need of the research you are now gathering and testing for your own e-book marketing. Fortunately, you have the ability to compile this information so that it is useful for other writers. Does it matter that you are not writing poetry? Not at all... there will be much poetry in your future. Right now you are establishing an income source from your writing, so that you will be in a position to write poetry to your heart's content any time you like.

First things first, however, and that means learning how to market the Kindle books you have already written. As you learn, you teach. As you teach, you earn. A good model for The Tutorial Lady.

 

Do What Makes You Happy

 

How long has it been since you spent the better part of the day feeling happy? Can you even remember what you were doing that lifted you to that level of bouyancy... that "floated your cork," as Abraham-Hicks likes to say? What makes you happy?

Most people have "happy moments," when something unexpectedly makes them smile or even laugh out loud. But even a comedy show on television cannot sustain happiness for a full half-hour, with the interjection of sales pitches every few minutes. Passive entertainment does not, generally, do it for you. Reading a good book transports you into new worlds, but you are more absorbed than happy.

When you allow yourself to relax and contemplate past times when you were truly, freely happy, what pictures do you see? Hitchhiking around Western Europe with a gigantic map and no set agenda? Sitting at your writing desk and allowing the words to flow freely through your pen? Playing with ideas for a brand new project?

Be honest with yourself. Happiness for you includes no schedule, writing and ideas. Is this how you are currently living your life?

From the perspective of eternity, the happiness rating you give yourself is an indicator of the degree to which you are aligned with your purpose and your divine nature. Is your life bubbling along joyfully or do you frequently feel stuck in the mud?

You know what brings you joy. Now do more of it.

 

Where There's Smoke...

You have heard the term "smoking gun" primarily in the movies before. A weapon that has recently been fired leaves a residue that attests to that. Other things happen without obvious reason, yet you wonder afterward what invisible hand pointed you in the right direction... to the course of action that worked to your benefit.

When you visited Fiverr.com in search of a graphic artist to make your new Kindle book cover, you saw a listing that looked perfect. This person offered everything you needed, yet every time you attempted to purchase from her - or even contact her to discuss your project - all paths were blocked. You merely kept returning to the login screen.

And so you continued searching until you found a listing that looked and felt pretty good. You sent a message and received a speedy reply. You paid your five dollars and had pleasant online conversations with an artist who completed your work the same afternoon. You now have a book cover you can be proud of.

In retrospect, you realized that you were being guided to the right person by the roadblocks that cut off access to all other possibilities. Does this methodology have the stamp of your Higher Self on it? Of course. The project you are now working on arose directly from these blogging sessions and you will have much unseen help in the publication of your new books.

Smoking gun? Not quite... but we did light a bigger fire under your forward progress. Now you have a cover but no book to put in it.

Time to get a move on.

 

Taking Time to Heal

 

When your body gets out of sorts, as it did with this year's beastly pollen season, ignoring the need for rest - and medicine - merely prolongs the time it takes to heal. Struggling along at half-mast is not conducive to high-vibrational work and, the more you "tough it out," the less productive you ultimately become. Why wait until you are completely debilitated to stop and regroup?

"Going with the flow" means paying attention to your body's messages, especially when you know something is not quite right. An energy drop at 3:00 PM four days in a row means it is time to stop and take a break. Rather than grabbing a coffee, try resting for fifteen minutes instead. It will make a difference.

You do not like to take "manufactured" medicines, preferring the natural home remedies that usually work for you. And had you acted upon your body's obvious suggestions for rest - prolonged yawning and energy dips - salt water and Reiki would have been enough.

 But you didn't pay attention and they weren't sufficient to do the job this time.

When you compare the cost of fifteen minutes of rest here and there with weeks of discomfort and foggy thinking, there is no contest. It just requires a little more self-awareness and self-nurturing on your part.

If you are not up to par, everything around you suffers a little - your work is less than stellar, your takeout meals more frequent and your mood quite ill-tempered. All for the sake of a quarter hour's downtime.

You write about "going with the flow," yet missed the boat this time around. Self-awareness trumps self-importance, okay?
